The COVID-19 pandemic has hit the world by storm. Constantly washing our hands and social distancing is the new normal.

In every situation, you need to decide whether you’re going to be a spectator on the sidelines or you’re going to get on the field and play. I know that there’s a lot of uncertainty at the moment, and that will bring about fear. However, we need to find ways to remain productive during this crisis. Here’s how you can respond to COVID-19 as a content creator.

Reach out to brands

Here’s the thing, due to the social distancing requirements, brands cannot create adverts, which is where you come in as a content creator or influencer. Now is the time to reach out to brands and offer to create content for them. Brands need influencers to share their message or promote their products or services. It’s your time to shine!

Use your content to educate and inspire

There is a lot of false information about the virus that’s going around at the moment. Use your platform to share the right information, but please do your research first. Instead of sharing information that will fuel panic and fear, create content that will help your audience to get through this phase. Use your content to spread positivity.

Limit content consumption

Yesterday, I came across a disturbing video that was shared by one of the bloggers that I follow on Instagram. It was a video of a woman in a hospital that had contracted the virus. The woman, who was clearly struggling to breathe, was sharing her journey after she tested positive with COVID-19. It was too graphic for me and I quickly switched it off. I immediately unfollowed the blogger because I don’t want to see that kind of content again. Yes, we need to stay informed but it’s essential to avoid content that will fuel fear and panic.

Improve your skills

Use this time to improve your skills. Read books or buy an online course. I will be relaunching the Influencer Masterclass later in April. It is a step by step guide that will help you build your online brand and turn your influence into a profitable business. My eBook, The Blogger Starter Kit is available for sale. The eBook will essentially help you start your blog in 30 days.

These are challenging times for all of us. But this is the time to be proactive by reaching out to brands, creating content, staying positive and improving your skills. Make a commitment to be a better person at the end of this pandemic.
