First impressions are everything, especially in business. I cannot stress enough the importance of putting your best foot forward at all times. If you present yourself and your business professionally, people will genuinely want to work with you.
When I think back to my humble beginnings, I can’t believe how my business has evolved. Although I had absolutely no idea that my blog would eventually turn into a lucrative business, I’ve always made sure that I presented myself in a professional manner. And once I started working with clients I knew it was time to level up. Today I would like to share with you how to make your online business look more professional.
Get your own domain name
I’m a stickler with this. If you’re running a business you cannot be using your Gmail account to send emails to clients or potential clients. I know that cutting costs is critical when you’re starting out, but trust me there are really affordable options out there. Same goes for your website or blog, try not to use the free options if you can. You have to invest in your business if you want to start seeing results.
Create a separate social media account for your business
This obviously doesn’t apply to influencers, that’s a completely different ball game. But if for example you run an online store, you cannot be posting pictures of yourself lying at the beach in the same account you use to market your products. You have to separate the two. However, you can use your personal account to drive traffic to your business account.
There’s something about a professionally designed email signature that says I mean business. By all means, you don’t have to get one immediately but I would strongly recommend you explore the idea, even if you’re a blogger or an influencer. I’ve included a link to my social media accounts and my website on my signature, which comes in handy when I’m pitching clients.
Get a website
Instagram and Facebook have revolutionised the way we do business. You’re now able to wake up in the morning and launch a business on social media, which is absolutely amazing. That’s a great way to start, but we’ve become lazy to take the next step by creating websites for our brands. We don’t own these social media platforms, so what would happen if they collapsed?
Design a logo
Whether you’re an influencer, blogger or you run an online store you have to get a logo designed for your brand. Logos create a visual symbol for your business.
There you have it, 5 quick tips that will make your online business look more professional. It is clear one doesn’t need to break the budget in order to create a good first impression. It’s the little things that make all the difference. Do you have any practical tips of how you’ve made your online business look more professional? Comment below.
