I spent years dreaming about starting my blog and I just kept making excuses that held me back from following my dreams. I was waiting for the perfect moment but the reality is that there is no perfect moment. There is just now. When I finally worked up the courage to launch my blog, I couldn’t believe that I had waited for so long. Luckily, you don’t have to. Now that I’ve done some homework, I’m going to share the road to launch day.
So you’ve figured out all the details and technicalities of putting your blog together. You’re happy with the look and you are ready to launch! It’s not as simple as just announcing your blog but please don’t let the idea of launching overwhelm you. Launching means you are finally prepared for people to experience your labour of love and guess what? I’ve got you!
Here are a few tips on how to launch your blog.
Before the launch
Like I said, you can’t just announce your blog once it’s ready. You need to create excitement around your new venture. I highly recommend that you start talking about your blog on social media at least ten days before you launch. Here are some suggestions on how you can start:
Day 10: Announce that you are working on your blog
Day 9: Share your story — why are you starting a blog?
Day 6: Announce what you’ll be blogging about
Day 4: Encourage people to sign up for your email list. Place the link to your sign up form in your bio
Day 3: Share your logo and tell the story behind it
It’s finally launch day! What now? It would be best if you have at least three blog posts ready for your launch. I know it sounds like a lot, but hear me out. Your audience needs to get the full experience when they get on your site. You won’t be able to achieve that with only one blog post. Remember, you want your readers to keep coming back.
Once you’ve published your blog posts, share the link to your post on your social media platforms. Encourage friends and family to also share on their platforms on your behalf. Remember, you are allowed to share your blog post more than once.
That brings me to the next point. Before you even set out to start a blog, you should have already mapped out what you’re going to blog about. You can purchase my blogger starter kit for more on this. You need to think about your content strategy, how often you will upload new content on your blog, as well as allocating time to creating content.
I recommend that you upload at least one blog post a week, if possible. Please allocate time to create your content — for instance, you could dedicate 1 weekend a month to write 4 blog posts. That way you’re not creating content at the last minute. Doing this will also help you plan your overall strategy and give you clarity about the core values of your blog.
If you’re waiting to be ready, you will never start. Stop finding new reasons to put off launching your blog. When are you planning to launch your blog? Let me know in the comments below.
