I am a self-confessed interiors addict; I can spend hours scrolling through those picture perfect interior décor accounts on Instagram. There’s no doubt that decorating your entrance hall should be your first priority when it comes to decorating your home. After all your entrance hall sets the tone for the style of the rest the house.
I finally got around to decorating my neglected entrance hall and I am thrilled to be able to share it with you. I believe that there are a few pieces that are a must when you are decorating your entrance hall, depending on your style of course.
Here’s a list of 5 must have décor items that you should consider:
Server
The server that you choose sets the tone for the style of your entrance hall, everything else needs to compliment it. Not only does your server need to be beautiful, functionality is also important. You can never have too much storage space. You can either go with a classic look or a more modern look, depending on your preferred style. I chose a classic wooden server from @home, mainly because it complemented the rest of the furniture in my home. Remember you are not restricted to using a server as your anchor piece, a sleek looking bench would be a good substitute.
Statement Mirror
A Mirror adds light, enlarges a space, and who doesn’t like to check how they look before they walk out the door? In my case, I chose a gold trimmed mirror from @home because I wanted to create a regal look. I considered a barn mirror but I felt that it might have looked too dainty above my chunky server. It’s important to take note of proportions when choosing your pieces. Beautiful artwork would also work well; great opportunity to introduce a hint of colour.
Statement Chair
This is the fun part, bring in a quirky chair to introduce a little bit of fun. I repurposed an old chair from @wheylandts, gave it a fresh lick of paint and it looks as good as new. Keep in mind that not everything needs to be fresh out of the store. Repurpose old furniture from other rooms in the house.
Pot Plants
There are three things that I love about indoor pot plants; they introduce height, texture and colour. Pop that pot plant into a straw basket and you have yourself a fabulous décor item. I bought two beautiful palms from @builderswarehouse. The beauty about palms is that they are extremely low maintenance. You only need to water them twice a month, music to my ears.
Candles
Whether you want to create a relaxing ambience or mask unpleasant smells, nothing beats a scented candle. There’s just something about lighting a chic candle that soothes us more than taking a bubble bath.
Your entryway is the first thing you (and your guests!) see upon arrival, so ensure it makes a lasting impression. Whether you have a grand entry hall or a makeshift foyer nook, there’s plenty you can do to make the space your own.
