It doesn’t matter how much you love your job — work can be exhausting and sometimes stressful. We’ve all been there, Sunday night is fast approaching and we’re dreading the start of the new week.

Most of us drag ourselves out of bed on Monday mornings, and by Wednesday we’re already counting down the hours until the weekend. If you can relate to the struggle, here are 5 weekend habits for a stress-free week.

Weekends are for resting. I know that it’s tempting to spend that time catching up on your work. However, we all need to reset so that we can start the new week with joy and positivity. Whether you choose to sleep in, take afternoon naps or long walks, there’s no right or wrong. As long as you find the activity relaxing and enjoyable.

Update your to-do list

I don’t know about you but I only look forward to the new week if I feel fully prepared. Please take a few minutes to plan your week. Whether you have to attend a parent-teacher meeting at your kid’s school or you have to submit a work document, write it all down or put it in your calendar.

Meal Prep

There’s nothing worse than getting home after a long day at work, and then you still have to figure out what to make for dinner. Or even worse, you get home and realise that you don’t have all the ingredients you need. You can either use the weekend to prepare your meals for the week or simply write down all the meals you will need to cook during the week. Either way, plan ahead so you can save time and reduce stress.

One of the things that consume time during the week is grocery shopping, which can be done during the weekend. Put together a grocery list for the entire week, then hit the grocery store on a Saturday morning. I prefer shopping first thing in the morning because there are fewer people in the store at that time and I like to get the shopping out of the way so I can use the rest of my day to rest.

Family time

If you’re constantly feeling guilty about not spending enough time with your loves ones, then use this time to give them all the love and attention that they need. That way, if you do have a busy week, you know that you’ve filled their tanks and your tank during the weekend.

These are the 5 weekend habits for a stress-free week. If you want to have a stress free week, then you need to rest, plan ahead, and spend quality time with your loved ones. What are some of your weekend habits? Please share in the comments below.
