As the days continue to remain blurred, it’s essential for us to find ways to stay motivated and optimistic about life.
As much as I’m a firm believer that we don’t have to be on self-improvement mode all the time, I do believe that it’s vital for us to challenge ourselves when life starts to feel monotonous. Here are 5 ways to challenge yourself this month.
Reduce your screen time
There’s no doubt that individual screen time has increased drastically over the past couple of years. The idea of reducing our screen time may seem impossible for some of us, but I’ve found that it has improved my relationships, time management and even sleep. Drink more water
We all know the benefits of drinking sufficient water, but somehow we never get around to it. Consider filling up a bottle of water every morning and carry it with you everywhere you go. You can add mint, cucumber, or berries to spice things up a little. Water does wonders for your skin and your overall health.
Connect with loved ones
One of our primary needs as human beings is the need to be heard and seen. However, we are continually pulled in different directions and hardly make eye contact with our loved ones. I want you to challenge yourself to put down your phone, look at your child or partner in the eye when they speak to you and listen. I mean, really listen.
Write 3 things you’re grateful for daily
This pandemic has made me appreciate the small things in life, most of which I took for granted. I miss date nights with my hubby, taking my daughter to play dates, and spending time with my friends and family. Practising gratitude is a powerful tool that helps us reflect on the good and ultimately bring us joy. Each time I choose to focus on the things I have, I light up internally.
Create a vision board
I know that we traditionally create vision boards at the beginning of the year but if you haven’t gotten around it yet, there’s no better time than now. Vision boards provide you with a daily reminder of your goals and keep you motivated. Visualisation is one of the most powerful mind exercises.
Those are 5 ways to challenge yourself this month. Challenging yourself is an excellent way to stay motivated and engaged with life. What are you going to do differently? Let me know in the comments below.
