The new year is upon us, and I’m so excited about what the future holds. 2020 is going to be a year filled with tremendous milestones in my household— my eldest starts high school, and my youngest starts grade R. Where did time go?

With that said, it also means that it’s time to wrap things up and start preparing for the new year. And if you want 2020 to be a prosperous year for you, it’s time to start planning. In this blog post, I would like to share 5 powerful ways to get ready for 2020.

Create a list of your significant highs or accomplishments in 2019, and celebrate them! I don’t know about you, but I’m one of those people that are always on to the next thing. I never take time to soak it all in, but not this time around! This year I’m listing and celebrating all my wins, both personal and business.

Secondly, create a list of all your lows or failures. The beauty about failure is that it’s part of the path to becoming successful. What are some of the hard lessons that you’ve had to learn this year? How can you use those lessons in 2020?

Prepare for the holidays

Plan for the holidays, make sure that you’re not caught off-guard. I’m a content creator, so in the next three weeks, my mission is to create as much content as I possibly can. I intend to make sure that I don’t have to work over the holidays.

If you have kids, sort out uniforms, stationery, labeling and anything else that they will need in the new year. Get that done now, so you don’t have to do any last-minute shopping in January. I can’t imagine anything more stressful!

I love the holidays. We get to spend quality time with our loved ones, and it doesn’t get better than that. But on the flip side, I don’t want to feel like I need another break because I’ve had a busy festive season. Make sure you get that well-deserved rest.

Make time to plan

Allocate time to plan your year or at least the first half of the year. Don’t wait until January to start planning—there’s no better time than now.

What are your goals for 2020? What do you want your life to look like? Remember, you are in control of your own destiny, and you are fully responsible for the choices you make. If you want to be successful next year, you have to acknowledge your potential and live up to it. Make a conscious decision to level up and be extraordinary!

Finish Strong

Most of us start to get into the festive mode way before we should. Make sure you keep the energy levels up and remain focused right until the end of the year. Complete all your tasks or goals for the current year. If you finish strong, your year will start with a bang.

If you want to have a prosperous new year, you need to plan, reboot and reflect on the previous year. How are you getting ready for 2020? Let me know in the comments below.
