Uncertainty can bring about a lot of anxiety or stress. The last couple of weeks have hit us hard and fast, making it too easy to get caught up in the swirl of things without taking a minute to take care of ourselves.
So this week, I want you to take care of your body with a quick home workout. I have been working out in my back yard or lounge, depending on the weather. Working out consistently has helped me to manage my stress during these trying times. I’ve put together a list of 5 free classes to keep you active during and post lockdown.
Nike training club
The Nike app has over 185 free workouts, ranging from 15 to 45 minutes, to help everyone stay active during these difficult times. They also offer guided workouts by celebrities such as the incomparable tennis champ, Serena Williams. Oh, and did I mention that it’s all free?
Vitality home workout channel
The Vitality home workout channel offers free workouts by Virgin Active trainers and fitness challenges from their Vitality ambassadors.
Adidas training by Runtastic
The Adidas training app is simple to use and very effective even if you’re only using the free version. It has over 180 workout videos, designed for different levels of fitness.
Yoga with Adriene
Yoga helps me to silence my mind and reconnect with myself, and that is why it has become an integral part of my life, now more than ever. It helps me release stress and keeps me calm amid all the chaos. I discovered Yoga with Adriene a few weeks ago, and I must say I’m a little obsessed. She provides high-quality yoga and mindfulness at no cost! Her sessions are mostly between 20-30 minutes per day, which is perfect for busy moms who are always on the go. If fast-paced cardio and lifting weights aren’t for you, try yoga. I would love to know what you think!
Cosmic kids yoga
Okay, this one is for the little ones! A few weeks ago, I discovered a yoga channel for kids on YouTube. Cosmic Kids is essentially a yoga channel designed especially for kids aged 3+. My 5-year-old and I have been doing yoga together for the past two weeks, and she loves it. It’s our special “girl time.”
A lot of things may be canceled at the moment, but feeling and looking your best shouldn’t be. As much as Netflix and chilling might be the more attractive option right now, you owe it to yourself to keep that body moving so you can stay positive. Are there any other free workout apps you can think of? Let me know in the comments below.
