As I write this blog post, I have five different tabs open on my laptop. I’m batching my blog posts for next month, I still need to prepare for an event that’s taking place tomorrow, and I need to shoot content for a brand campaign.
Being an influencer has become so lucrative, it’s no wonder everyone wants a piece of the pie. So how does one decide what to focus on when you are continually being pulled in different directions? Here are 3 things that influencers should focus on.
Post valuable content consistently
How often are you posting on Instagram? The algorithm will reward you if you post consistently and regularly. Not only that but are you publishing content that is valuable for your audience? Is your content elevating your follower’s experience? You need to be intentional about the kind of content that you create. Your audience should either be inspired, educated or entertained.
Consistently posting is one way to demonstrate to brands that you’re serious about what you do. Brands want to work with influencers who are committed to their craft. They need to know that you will follow through on a campaign if they decide to collaborate with you.
Boosting your engagement
Yes, the number of followers that you have is essential, but your engagement is equally important. By engagement, I’m referring to likes and comments on your posts. These metrics indicate whether your content resonates with your audience or not.
Post more video content to connect with your audience, ask them questions, and respond to their comments and DM’s. People will engage with you if you reciprocate. Figure out what your audience likes and create more content that is similar to that.
Look into your conversions
Finally, you need to pay attention to your conversions. How many people are you able to get off Instagram and onto a different platform? Whether you’re directing people to your blog, YouTube channel or your website, you need to master your conversion skills because that is what brands want. Brands care about conversions. They want you to convince your audience to get off Instagram and onto their preferred platform.
Practice this skill by getting people to get onto your own platforms, so that by the time you start working with brands, you’ve mastered this skill.
Although there are many, those are the 3 things that influencers should focus on. If you follow these tips, you will be well on your way to landing more brand deals as an influencer.
